Private Pond, Oxfordshire

Water Management

This private pond suffered from persistent blanket weed. The pond has a water source that is high in dissolved nutrients and also has slight build up of organic sludge from leaf fall.

The pond had not responded in the past to various methods of algal control.

Blanket weed and some encroaching marginal plants were first removed in the spring and the pond has been dosed through the summer since that time.

Since treatment began, the pond has not suffered from any problems of blanket weed.
